“Despite these uncertainties, the majority of the opus incertum
tracts surviving in the city walls probably represent post-siege repairs
related to the battle and its immediate aftermath. …………………….. The remains at
Tower IX point to a large post-Social War reconstruction effort, including the
full reconstruction of the building and 20 metres of adjacent western curtain
wall.”
